How is my coach delivered? Coaches
are either picked up by our customers or
delivered by a bonded outside transportation
company. Medical Coaches normally uses MobileMed
Support Services. We have found them to
be reliable, experienced, and very knowledgeable
in all aspects of Medical Coaches’
mobile unit operation.
3.
Is it possible to request a sales presentation
at a customer site? Yes. Please
contact Chad Smith at 607-432-1333, Ext
125, or dial 0 for the operator.
4.
Can you provide references for me to contact?
Please contact csmith@medcoach.com for a
list of references.
5.
What is your typical delivery timeframe?
We are continuously building PET/CT’s
for inventory and can normally make fairly
rapid deliveries upon receipt of equipment
6.
What are your standard options?
Our standard options include a fully installed
hot lab, a mobile sink, injection chairs,
fire suppression
system, multi-level cot, escape hatch, special
artwork, hinged bi-fold canopy door or a
swing canopy door. For more information
please refer to our options listing. NOTE:
some options are mandatory for operation
in some states and municipalities.
7.
Is it possible to add additional options?
Yes. We are always willing to work
with our customers if they have additional
options which they require or would like
to see on the coach. We always welcome new
and creative ideas that make our coaches
more efficient or user friendly. If you
let us know exactly what you would like
to do, we will provide an additional quote.
8.
What type of service program do you offer?
Medical Coaches pioneered active Preventive
Maintenance (PM) and extended warranty programs.
We offer 24/7 coverage with four-hour response
by trained local professionals. We consider
our effective and responsive service to
be a hallmark of Medical Coaches. Please
request a copy of our Mobile•Serve
brochure for more details.
9.
Can I add the cost of a mobile to the lease
of a PET/CT scanner? Yes. This
is done quite frequently. Please speak with
your sales representative or leasing group
for more information.
10.
Can I visit your facility? We encourage
visits to the Medical Coaches Manufacturing
facility to all potential customers. Typically
we have a number of MRI, PET/CT, and specialty
units in all stages of construction. We
are 20 minutes from the National Baseball
Hall of Fame and only 10 minutes from the
National Soccer Hall of Fame. Albany and
Binghamton Airports are one to one-and-one-half
hours away. (We are more than happy to make
a sales presentation our customer’s
site also).
11.
Do you offer training? Yes. We
encourage all customers to send drivers
or technicians to our facility in Oneonta,
New York, for a full-day training session.
If that is not possible, we have our transportation
company do a full training session upon
delivery to explain setup and breakdown.
We also supply a very easy-to-understand
color operator’s manual with each
mobile unit.
12.
How many years have you been building Mobile
PET and PET/CT units? Medical Coaches
built the very first mobile PET and PET/CT
units. We started producing Mobile PET units
in 1991 and mobile PET/CT units in 2001.
We delivered the first of each mobile. Overall
Medical Coaches has been in the mobile business
for 50 plus years. We have delivered over
20,000 specialty units to over 110 different
countries.
13.
What equipment is offered in the optional
hot lab? Please refer to the hot
lab listing in our Available Options List.
Our standard hot lab has been developed
by experts in their field. We are happy
to work with the customer for any special
accommodations necessary.
14.
How does your coach operate in varying climates?
Our coaches are designed for rugged terrain
and nasty weather. Medical Coaches has supplied
coaches to more than 110 countries. We pride
ourselves in building mobile units that
can operate in extremes of heat and cold.
Our custom insulating techniques combined
with dependable heating and air conditioning
systems insure comfortable working conditions
in virtually any outside environment. Our
unique body design allows us to store our
generator, lift gate, and steps in weather-sealed
compartments, protecting them from the elements.
Operators can set up our coach in far less
time than our competitors.
15.
Who installs the scanner? A team
of experienced Medical Coaches’ employees
install all PET/CT/MRI/P.E.T. equipment
at our facility. Equipment vendors perform
final system calibration and set up. Our
trained professionals have installed hundreds
of Philips, Siemens, CTI, and GE systems
(both fixed and mobile).
16.
What is the average service life of your
units? Due to our unique rugged
construction, we have some mobile units
that have been out in the field for over
20 years. Typically our trailers outlast
the medical systems onboard and can be refurbished
for “another life.” The average
life of an MRI, PET or PET/CT coach is 15
years.
17.
Why do you put the generator on the side?
We decided to move our generator from the
front mount to the side compartment after
receiving too many complaints from customers.
For example, the front mount was too noisy,
collects dirt, road grime, ice and snow,
very difficult to service and adds unnecessary
length to the trailer making them harder
to maneuver.
Our side-mounted
generator is weather protected, accessible
for virtually all service from the ground,
very quiet, customer friendly, and built
by Detroit Diesel with an extensive country-wide
service network
18.
Why is your underbelly lift so popular?
Most lifts fold up against the trailer side.
These lifts can accumulate road dirt and
grime, plus ice and snow. In addition, they
are not 100 percent reliably protected from
dangerously coming loose while the unit
is in transit. We decided to mount our lift
in a weather protected compartment. The
lift is deployed hydraulically and need
not be cleaned of accumulated grime and
ice. The hydraulic system offers a very
smooth ride up and down, touted by our customers
to be the best in the industry. In addition,
we are able to conveniently store steps
and hand rails in this compartment. Hand
rails are custom-formed 2” diameter,
high-grade stainless steel,; they do not
bend, warp or dent nor do they have paint
to chip or aluminum stains to go on hands
or clothes. Using our lift adds nearly 8
inches of width to the control room because
no inset pocked for a fold up lift is required.
19.
Why don’t you use a canvas lift cover?
Our competitor uses this style
because their lift folds against the side
flush with the wall. Medical Coaches is
able to inset our door allowing us to add
a folding solid canopy door. The door serves
two functions: an added weather seal on
door entrance and a solid weather protection
over the lift. We used canvas awning in
the past and were not satisfied—they
wore out, were erratic in windy conditions,
and accumulated ice and snow, making them
hard to fold.
20.
Why do you use a metallic ceiling?
We consider this to be one of our more unique
and functional features. Our ceiling is
the same used in many hospitals and upscale
offices. The decorative metallic panels
can be quickly and easily removed to access
service areas in the ceiling; the panels
do not water stain and are easy to clean;
and multiple small louvers provide a comfortable
“curtain effect” air flow as
opposed to high-volume and noisy single
louvers. Operators feel the cleaner, longitudinal
ceiling lines give our coaches a more “open”
atmosphere.
21.
How good is your overall insulation?
We use the best insulation available for
mobile units (foamed-in-place urethane in
the floors). We then add Thermax insulation
sheets for the walls, ceiling, and doors.
This prevents entrance of dust or cold.
In addition, the insulation adds greatly
to body strength. The total R value inside
our coach is approximately 15.
22.
What if your expandable sides or lift fail,
can we still operate? Both our
expandable sides and lift gate come with
a manual override system that is easy to
operate, allowing your unit to continue
operating until service personnel arrive.
23.
Why is your sliding patient access door
better than an electric roll-up door? The
sliding patient access door completely eliminates
the chance of mechanical breakdown. We found
that the mechanical roll door was cumbersome
and prone to problems. Our sliding doors
open easily with one hand and only need
to open wide enough to allow the gurney
or wheel chair to enter. On the other hand,
an electrical roll-up door must open fully
over the entire cycle, causing loss of conditioned
trailer air and entrance of hot or cold
interior air. Our customers have been overwhelmingly
happy with our sliding door change.
24.
How is the quality of your coaches assured?
Medical Coaches was the first mobile
manufacturer to receive internationally
recognized ISO Certification. We recently
upgraded to the current ISO: 9001 Certification
Level. ISO Certification requires us to
perform tests on all units to include temperature
and humidification tests, smoke detector
check, a digital leveling test, and a full
generator test. Plus each unit goes through
a full checklist along with a road test
before the coach is delivered.
